Hi everyone!!!!!!and thanks to Rachel, Mark, Michelle, Dyar and Attom for the information about DSK...I had katalog III, and I bought DSK IV at Passion (Thanks Xavier for all, again!!!!!!!!)...but to read german language is so difficult to me...

I´m not so very experimented collector as some of you are, but my relation with the smurfs is old,old...I´m going to tell you...

When I was eight years old, Smurfs began to appear in Spanish Tv, and my parents regale to me and my twin brother ten smurfs...The first one I saw when I open the box with the present was Nr 20009, smurf with a drum...I can´t forget it...From this day, my father carry us every saturday to Sevilla to buy some smurfs.My brother got bored, but I continued...I played everyday with my little blue( because of this, some of them are damaged...but never mind)....... I had about 180 smurfs in my collection...and suddenly Smurfs were not at the stores, and not at TV...My parents usually went to Holland, Belgium, Swizerland, and Germany, and they always brought to me smurfs...But it was so difficult to them to find smurfs for me, and to remember which ones I had...My collection stopped

Years and years passed, I loved smurfs but it was imposible to find new smurfs in Spain...I grew, I went to the secondary school and my sisters began to give birth a lot of childs...They liked smurfs and they always wanted to touch them. So I decided to put them in a cupboard...one year, two years, three years...more and more...

In 1992 I began Chemistry in the university, and suddenly somebody spoke to me about smurfs....I decided to take out them, and collection continued again...In my travels, I looked for smurfs...Internet appeared...I got my first job as a teacher of Chemistry and Physics, and I began to spent money in one of the things I loved more: SSSSSMMMUUUURFFFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have about 700 differents smurfs: all regulars, some promos, some variation, buildings and playsets...It´s not too bad for a spanish smurfer,I think

Since I went to passion, I have decided to buy smurfs and more smurfs...I love them...

PS:Actually, I have not a specially good relation with my twin brother, but always,always, when he talk to me by telephone, he always says: and your smurfs...how are they?...It´s really beautiful...Only remain our childhood!!!!!!!!!!!And his two pretty daughters love smurfs....and I loved both of them: smurfs and my nieces....Of course

Hi Pitufo, great to hear our story. It sounds like you have had great pleasure out of smurfs for several years You have so many too!! Brilliant. You will have to post some pictures of your collection for us.

I am a mere newbie. I had around 80 smurfs I think before I started collecting again a few weeks ago. I have had my foot down accelerating though and I think that I have around 300 at the moment including supers & sockels (once I pick up my latest packages from the post office )

PS I think that your English is excellent. I studied Spanish for a few years (a while back now) and was trying to follow your posts in the International Forum...... without a lot of luck....!!

That was nice to read your story and what it was like collecting in Spain. I had the same problem here with smurfs disappearing from the BP petrol stations and were suddenly nowhere in sight.

I agree with the others, Pitufo...an excellent story of how you have kept the smurfs in your life since you were young. And your English is definitely understandable...and much easier to read for me than Spanish. It's pretty sad that so many people around the world can read and write and speak English but most people that have English as their first language don't know any other languages. That's always amazed me I'd love to see pictures of your collection as well!

Hi pitufo, what a nice story. It's also nice to hear that you kept your smurfs still as it seems that most collectors that had smurfs as a child lost them, gave them away, had them given away for them or they got chewed up by children or other animals ( )

That is a lovely story and it was very nice to read. It is wonderful reading about everyone's "smurf history" and your's is a very similar story to so many here. You did have a very nice smurf collection as a child though and it is so nice to hear that you still love them all and now have so many more.

What a great story thanks for telling us how you began collecting..your story sounds very similar to mine..I used to buy smurfs from a petrol station every sunday after me and my father used to visit my grandma..I used to go in and choose a smurf from the amazing displays they had inside the garage..I still remember a big glass dome with a smurfy scene under it..it was like walking into a magical fairyland for me as a kid

Whenever we went anywhere on holiday, we always stopped at a garage to fill up and get smurfs..I wish I still had some of the stuff I had as a kid..I had the singing smurf with little records, mugs, posters, stickers, an olympic stadium (cardboard), and a little band that went round a boiled egg with smurfs on...happy days

What always amazes me is how many people held on to their smurfs for so many years, it is a testament to their quality as toys I think. I love your story also, Joaquin, it is so similar to many of us here, these little blue guys that even in our wildest days we just didn't quite have the heart to part with!
