Mine stands up fine, too. He's a crazy Chinese knock off. My mother-in-law (who lives in Beijing) told my wife she's finding him more often at corner toy stores. Are they still making him? Or, is he just floating around, unkillable? The price I paid 100 yuan (about US$12) is relatively pricey for a Chinese toy. I think Chinese who buy it think it's just a cute elf doll. Smurfs have otherwise vanished from China, except in remote rural tourist traps where you might find a garbage can shaped like a mushroom with a smurf face on it. While watching Chinese TV, I saw a girl, the host of a music video show, wearing a smurf shirt. But, again, I don't think Chinese teens know what smurfs are other than something cute.
