One of these ended a couple weeks ago at only $36.. I almost fell over when i saw that price. Goes to show you though that if you flood the market he price goes down. Although these auctions are quiete high already. John has the right idea of a reserve on his :D

I agree, there have been rather a lot around lately. I suppose this could be that these sellers have seen one finish in the past and thought they would try and make some big money. You can often see this but it is also good to see that these generally hold their value. :D

I also agree, Brad's article is a very good one although as far as I can see, all the current baseball smurfettes for sale are the original 1984 one.

I have recently got the "other" smurfette Thanks to Rae and had some very interesting discussions about it with many very experienced smurf collectors in Brussels. The general opinion was that it could well be real but it could possibly a fake. No one said it was definitely a fake which I found quite suprising and I will be posting a full report on it on Blue Imps in the near future. :-D

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

im sure in your big discussion there was always the WHAT IF it was a real one, WHAT IF.... it was a variations... welll if it is a fake one , the faker must tell himself he really succeed in creating a doubt, i think he reached his goal if it was what he wanted to create a DOUBT.

I agree Sami. :-D

My opinion is that *IF* it is a fake, it is probably one of the best I have ever seen. :sherlock:

I had never seen pictures of the suspected fake smurfette, but it is interesting to see the two together like that. Just by looking at the pictures it seems like the "fake??" one is fatter Leaving me to think that infact she was faked. If I understand mold makeing if you copy something like a smurf the mold would be slightly bigger than that of the original item. so if you then poured the pvc into it that smurf would be bigger than what the mold was made out of. I suspect that is what happend to the praying smurfs as we know the fakes of those are slightly bigger than the originals. I guess without there being any real proof though we would still be left wondering if it is or not. But if my vote counts for anything I would say she is a fake just by looking at the pictures. It would not surprise me as it seems that if there is money to be made and people to be scammed then people will do anything. :x
thanks for sharing that article as I had not yet seen it.

That's what I think as well Rachel :D
When I saw it at the fair she looked fine to me and without another to compare it to I snapped her up seeming she was cheap.

Hi, evryone!!!!!!

A question for my smurfy aussies friends: is it hard to find this "perhaps" fake baseball smurfette in Australia? I have heard it´s relatively common to see them at the fleamarkets...I would like to get one if it´s cheap...

Thanks
JOAQUÍN

Hi Joaquin
I wouldn't say they were common here.
I've only seen them available once at the toy fair here in Adelaide back in June.
All 3 were from the same seller.
I'll keep a look out for them next year :D

Rae, keep an eye open for one for me too! This is fascinating information and I'd like to see the fake one with my own eyes and of course own her. :D

Rachel,

You take the words out of my mouth: If this is a fake, this is the best one I have ever seen!

That article from Brad is fantastic: The pictures of the details are great!

Cheers,

hello. It's great to see this discussion surface again. I didn't know Raelene had sent her's over for everyone to take a look at. Really excited that a few more of you were able to see her. Because she is an amazing fake. My opinion has settled on fake, but it's good to hear what everyone else thinks. I'll definitely take put aside some money when the fair comes along again next year and if those sellers are there with this smurfette again then I'll buy another one for someone who is interested. I really look forward to your report Rachel!

I'm actually getting a little sick of seeing all these baseball smurfette's on ebay, lol. Ever since I brought my own original there have been so many on ebay. I can tell you that I've been checking all the auctions out and they are all authentic. I really doubt we will see any of these fakes for sale.

Brad.

Brad.
No, I sold her to Rachel, Brad.
Rachel mentioned in one of her posts that she would like one and I don't collect variations plus I already had an original Baseball Smurfette so I thought she'd appreciate it more :D

Plus someone on another board pissed me off with their comments about the Baseball Smurfette so at that stage I'd had enough of hearing about it :)

I'm looking forward to Rachel's report also 8)

I'd love one of these brad if there is one around when you go, I looked at the one Rachel has when we were in Belgium and I thought if it was fake, it was a good one...and that smurfette keeps getting away..I must get one some day :)
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.
