Are the Jubilee smurfs easily faked also? :?

I have been seeing quite a few on ebay and I am interested in them, but the seller is . :???: ... well...let's just say, I have heard good and bad stuff about this one :-?

So, I just wanted your input if these kind of smurfs are very easily faked and if so, how you can usually tell? I don't have any so far, so I can't really compare them.. :(

thanks for your help :? :D

Hi Maureen..I've never heard, or seen any of the jubilee's being faked..thats not to say they couldn't be..but I've never seen any fakes.
Long, long ago, deep in the forest, there was a hidden village where tiny creatures lived. They called themselves the Smurfs. They were good.

I´m agree!!!!!!Perhaps if the smurf is from a "special" seller, who knows.... :-? :-? :-? :-? I think this kind of "possible fake" must be easily recogniezed...A long time ago I decided not to buy smurfs from some sellers, although the smurf seems to be original...I prefer not to risk my money

Hi Maureen, as far as I am aware, there haven't been an fake jubilee smurfs produced. There is one way of absolutely guaranteeing a genuine one and that is to get one still in it's original packaging but of course, unfortunately, these do tend to be quite expensive.

One good thing about the jubilee marks is that there a several different years which would make it more difficult to fake in the first place. :D

I think I know which seller you are talking about with a few for sale at the moment. :winks:

Why is it called "common sense" when it is so rare.......

Funny you mention that as I added 6 Jubilees to my collection today....although 2 were replacements for ones with really faded or damaged print.

I am not aware of these being faked either...I don't think they are that hard to find to be faked yet.

Thanks guys :D

I did bid on them and win them, so I guess, I will find out for myself :-D

I probably won't be able to tell if they are fake or not, so I may come back to you for more advise and post some pictures :winks:

Hi Maureen

Good question... I have no idea if the ones I have are fakes..

I have 13 in total and most are made in West Germany but one is made in Portugal and three from Hong Kong. The markings give me no clue. :o

I think it would be hard to fake... assuming you were able to make a stamp that detailed, then you would probably use gold leaf paint... easy to blob! then cover with a varnish to protect that paint. The varnish would look different than bare PVC so you would have to cover the whole smurf... that would definately look different than the normal smurf. There maybe an easier way but I wouldn't know. :-?

Regards
Daryl

hi! Maureen

I also have not seen any fakes of these yet! anyway!

I don't think they are rare enough to bother to fake
as they do should up on EBAY at times.

and prices are still affordable.

Good news that you won some which is exciting when you don;t have any yet.

I have some but like Dyar, the print on them was not too great!

the ones you bought look great!

Hi Maureen, I too have not been witness to any fakes of the jubilee smurfs on ebay or indeed any other site. But as we've not seen or heard of any I guess as Steve mentioned, it does'nt mean that there hav'nt actually been any......... :-?

Smurfy regards

I discovered last night I only need one more Jubillee (Judge) to finish having at least 1 of each. I had no idea that was the case as I thought I still had a few more to go.

To balance things up I discovered I needed 2 more Plastoys instead of just 1.
