Hi guys,

since I went to another big fleamarket on Saturday, I was just wondering, which was the cheapest smurf you bought so far?

Speaking of myself, I found a very interesting interesting and probably genuine Prisoner (since he got the marking Peyo, W.Germany and he's soft) the day before yesterday. Yet I would argue, that he is in terrible condition, I love him dearly. Since he has a red mouth and he looks so different from his mates. :D

I got him from a teenage boy for just 10 cent. :D

Will post pic tomorrow, since I have so many things to tell you.

Welcome back, Dom
I have gotten quite a few smurfs very cheaply but one of the best was the praying smurf for around 50 cents US....he was in a large lot and you couldn't really see him in the photo so no one knew he was there :D

I know people may hate this but....

There was a stool selling smurfs once at a local boot sale (Saddlers Farm for all those Essex tyopes among us) and all the womans smurfs were stupidly expensive!!

Anyway, in another box I saw Peewity and said "How much?".. she said "25p for disney!"

Brilliant!

Also, bought Baseball smurfette for a quid in Cambridge in the market!

As a lot of my brother's collection actually raised money for more smurfs and I didn't have to share it, I'd say them! :-D :)

I got a huge smurf lot one day that included about every smurf and super smurf (except the three cones and the Gargi suprise smurf) and a few playsets (including the Astro set)...I bought it for an impressive amount of money, but when you calculated it all, it came down to about $4-5 per smurf, which means I got the Astro set (complete except for the box) for about $5.00 :-D

Stupid me sold some of the smurfs (the ones I didn't like back then which happened to be the rare ones...my excuse is it was in my pre-forum days), but I did keep the Astro set :relieved:

I bought a huge amount of smurfs from the US in my early days of collecting. The person wanted $1500 for them all originally......but I ended up buying them all for about $400, just cos no one else was interested and that was all I could offer him. The guy just wanted to get rid of them and was going to throw them out if he couldn't sell them all really quickly.

In the end I got them all for about 50 cents each or less. The best thing was that I sold the doubles for something like $800.....so in the end...I got hundreds of new smurfs and actually got paid a nice sum to keep them. That was how I ended up with so many Hong Kong variations as almost everything that arrived was a new variation. However....I also got ripped off on another big deal from the US so I guess in the end...you win some, you lose some :-?

The cheapest smurf I got.....morally speaking, would have to be Syd of course.

When I went backpacking round Europe as a student I found lots of smurfs for the equivalent of 25p in Hungry...

... I bought one loaf of bread to live off and spent the rest of the money on the Smurfs :D

I once found a chritopher columbus smurf at a flea market for only $1. At the time I just knew it was a smurf I did not have yet only to find out years later what a bargain I got. Now adays finding a bargain at a flea market is rare, everyone who sells anything smurfy thinks they are sitting on a gold mine no matter how many times there cat has chewed on a smurf they still try to sell it for no less than $10 :banghead:

That reminds me of the only time I found smurfs in Chattanooga, which was last October :-D

A good friend and I went to some antique markets and I wasn't really looking that closely for smurfs, as I didnt' think I would find any but I looked anyway. My friend, not a smurf collector, found several items which were pretty expensive..and she found some smurfs in a glass cabinet that looked very normal, too....I had to go on my knees to see how much each one was as their price was marked below them and the glass cabinet was locked. Each one was about $8-$12, which was way tooooooo much. But among them was a soccer player, which was clearly a Bundesliga player (Bayern Uerdingen), with no price. So, I went to the cashier and asked her how much it was. She got it out and called the seller. I told myself, I'd get it for a set amount (I think around $40) but not for more since he didnt' have his ball.....I nearly fainted when she told me the price which I think was around $8.00 and put my best poker face on to say "yeah..I get it". Once my friend and I left the store I told her about the bargain I just got and she laughed and said "I could tell it was a deal as you had that look in your eyes that said...I ain't gonna let this'ne slide out of my hands." :D So much for my poker face.. :) :) :)

Maureen that sounds like an antique mall I went too.. mine too where in a glass cabinet with prices of around 8 -10 a piece and I too found a bundesliger for that price.. NOT kidding but that is what happend to me too only differnce is mine had the ball and the price tag on it, no need to call the owner. Strange.

guess we know who to play poker with now :) :)
