I was watching a Movie the other evening and after the movie It got me thinking.

Here is what I was thinking:

How many movies are out there that make mention of The Smurfs or show Smurfs in them.

Last weeks episode of Supernatural on CW had a reference to smurfs...they thought they were dealing with UFOS and Sam showed a picture of fairies to Dean and said something along the lines of "I think all these UFO abductions ahve actually been doen by these" and Dean says "Smurfs?". If you have never seen supernatural it is a clever show that can be quite funny at the same time.

Just curious Tracker what if I have seen Supernatural, is it about something else. lol Not sure if I have heard any mention of Smurfs in movies, but I have seen mention of Smurfs in many a sitcom. Jay Leno has mentioned them a couple of times. I have seen them mentioned on the news a few times too.

the book was written 2004 and they made the movie 2007( in cinemas 2008). That is why I wondered about that year??

There are no older versions and no remakes!!! Luckily!!! Because it is just great the way it is!!

An American remake of this film has just been released. I think it's under the same English title.

I don't want to sound offensive, but I rarely enjoy remakes. E.g. "Nikita" by Luc Besson is a masterpiece of it very own, but with the changes done, its remake ("The Point of No Return") loses fascination.

it must be a pretty new remake since the original is only 2 years old.

It won a lot of prices as best foreign movie in 2008!! But remember it is not a Hollywood production. It is a very simple, but very great movie

The film was ranked #15 in Empire magazine's 2010 list of "The 100 Best Films Of World Cinema". Let the Right One in, along with Pans Labyrinth, are my top ever 'International' films.

Let me in is not actually that bad. Its pretty much a shot for shot and the only things they replace are actually somewhat better. Just 2 set peices.

They keep the best one! Anyone that's seen Let the Right on in will know what I'm talking about. Usually I HATE remakes but I was very impressed with Let Me In.

When I am in Germany, Granny and I watch a lot of shows about the life and work in of several German zoos (Leipzig started with those I think and now every city seems to have one).
The Wilhelma in Stuttgart has their own as well which is called "Eisbar, Affe & Co" and one of the favorite parts is always when they show how they hand raise Gorilla babies (This zoo is known for being able to raise them very successfully). One of the zoo keepers keeps calling her small Gorilla babies smurfs which amuses me to no end.

The only review I've seen so far said it was an ok remake but not as good as the original. At least Al's seen them both! I haven't seen either yet but they are now on my "must watch" list!
