Guess what I'll be eating on friday :) :-P I hate the food but I'll sacrifice my health for the sake of smurf collecting :) The trouble is that I need a set, & then there are the three under 10's who'll all be wanting them too
Oh poor Tojo! I know at the US McDonald's, one can buy just the toys without having to eat the food but I guess they don't do that in other countries :-?

My friend in Germany bought the full set in one go last year without buying the food so you should be able to save your health a bit Tojo....as for me.....I would be happy to sacrifice my health for a yummy Cheesburger with the gherkin thrown out and fries put on as a substitute.....I am sure Jack will agree.

yummm yummm...I spent a fortune in maccy dees when the smurfs were here last time...It wasn't until after I was ill from all those burgers that some kind sole told me that you could just buy the toys for 99p :)

I think macdonalds got sick of me in the end..I'm sure they had a wanted poster of me up in there saying 'if you see this man HIDE!' :)

I used to work right near a Maccas before and as you know I am not the early morning type so I would always be running late in the mornings. I quite often had breakfast at Maccas as I can't eat as soon as I wake up.....infact I can't even tell you what my name is in the mornings and would be helpless if it wasn't for Mrs Dyar pushing me in the right direction (.....sometimes not in the right direction if she doesn't like me at the time). Anyway I got to know the staff quite well which led to some freebies which was cool but it also led to being hassled from my friends that the Maccas staff were all my girlfriends and all that type of crap.......come to think of it....I actually didn't mind that....until they hassled me in front of them and embarrassed the hell out of me.

You put fries on your burger too?? That is the only thing other than ketchup I put on there and I've been doing that since I was 7...everyone just thinks I'm weird :)

Actually they sold the smurfs for €2 each last year so if there are 8 smurfs a set should cost €16. But with 3 kids to buy for as well that adds up to lots of €'s

If I manage to get a set on Friday I'll post some pics :D

Oh no Tojo......that is expensive. :banghead:

Stace...it's the only way to eat them with Fries......I get funny looks from people too but I have been doing the same thing since I was 7 or 8 too.....even Mrs Dyar does it now. :)

To quickly jump in on teh food topic. ha. If you put McChicken sauce on the burger and fries, it makes it even better. And if you have a few fries left over, get an ice cream and dip them in that. It's great. :-D :?

I've just checked out the McD website & there they are the new smurfs.

http://www.mcdonalds.de

the smurfs are in the right hand window - happy meal. Just click on the window to get a larger view. It looks like they are toys this time rather than figures which we can play with :( I assume they are fixed to their bases. Only another 6 hours to go & then I'll see if I can get a set & make my report :D

How exciting Tojo...new McMurfies

I have put my order in but my friend is MIA.....I might have to ask someone else and see what happens....I wonder if they have posters or other promo items at Maccas that would be worth picking up for memorablilia purposes?

I'll have a look while I'm there. The main rail station in Frankfurt has a pretty big McD's so if there are any promo things then they should have them. For the knights I don't remember any extras but the pirates had paper flags as freebies.

I can't understand why other countries don't have the smurfs. They have the barbies, the action men, the hot wheels cars etc so why not smurfs? Maybe the boss of McD's U.K. was attacked by a smurf as a child & ever since has had a phobia for little blue creatures with an appeite for smurfberries :)

I notice after only one week of offering these sets for $48.55 a piece, that the initial seller from this thread has dropped his price to $34.12 per set, and if you are willing to buy in bulk, you can purchase ten sets for $292.00.

I already sent him payment for five sets a week ago.

Considering that a whole set costs €16 here in Germany direct from the restaurant & the € / $ ratio is more or less 1 to 1, this guy is making a 100% profit! Still it saves the embarassment of asking for a complete set of smurf toys while not having any children with you :)

"what, you want a whole set of toys? Why don't you grow up & get a life!" :)
